Barcelona World Race countdown and all the latest sailing news
Welcome to this week's edition of our Sail-World.com's European newsletter.
The crews for the Barcelona World Race are on countdown for the start on December 31st. All is in readiness at the Race Village as last minute details are taken care of by the teams.
The line-up of experienced sailors competing is very impressive - Jean-Pierre Dick and Loick Peyron (Vibrac-Paprec3), Dominque Wavre and Michele Paret (Mirabaud), Michel Desjoyeaux and Francois Gabat (Foncia) to name just a few.

Sail-World.com will bring you the action as it unfolds.
American sailor Brad Van Liew has crossed through the speed gate on leg 2 of the Velux 5 Oceans. Polish sailor Zbigniew Gutkowski has dropped back to third after suffering auto pilot problems.
And in the Southern Hemisphere the Rolex Sydney Hobart was full of drama, with retirements, protests and heavy weather all adding to the excitement. The smaller boats are still racing but should reach the finish by New Year's Day.
