The latest news from the Boating scene

Well, happy to report I survived Sydney, albeit with a souvenir in the form of a very heavy head cold.

Why a cold, or anything else, would wish to hang around such a rough head when there are plenty of good looking ones out there I do not know.

Nevertheless, the Sydney International Boat Show proved a winner, the only description one could give it after more than 73,000 people found their way to Darling Harbour.

Who knew boats could fly - Sydney International Boat Show 2010  MarineBusiness-World.com .

We present a brief report on the show and you'll be reading plenty more as we dissect exactly what transpired over the five days of the exhibition.

In other news, there's plenty of offshore action looming with Super Boat International staging the Lake Michigan Grand Prix and Class 1 racing set to thunder in the Swedish Grand Prix.

And that most legendary manufacturer of high-performance boats, Cigarette Racing Team, is again winning worldwide kudos for its efforts.

As those who dwell along parts of Australia's east coast would be well aware, some strange weather has seen huge seas and strong winds hand out a battering; NSW Maritime has issued an alert to boat owners warning them of the conditions and offering sound advice.

Incidentally, we have not finished attending boat show, not yet.

August 26-29 will see the team heading north for the 50th Brisbane International Boat Show and you will have all the news right here before you as usual.

There's been plenty of positive talk emanating from industry leaders and that can only be considered good for us all.

We'll be speaking with some of those identities over the next week or two and shall endeavour to paint an accurate word picture of just where we're headed after the economic downturn we did not have to have!

Enjoy the read and hang around, there's always more to come.
