Gold, bronze and Championships galore
Welcome to another big week of summer sailing.
The Laser Radial World Championships are underway in Largs, Scotland, the 470 Worlds are about to begin with Nic Asher and Elliot Willis aiming for their third title while Sarah Ayton and Saskia Clark are sailing their first 470 Worlds together. Congratulations to Chris Draper and Peter Greenhalgh who nabbed the gold at the 49er Europeans, while Stevie Morrison and Ben Rhodes finished with a bronze.
Ben Ainslie took the honours at Match Cup Sweden, the Clipper fleet started Race 13 from Cork, Ireland, Simon Payne leads the Moth Nationals, the Westward Cup Regatta was held in Cowes and the IFDS Worlds are underway in Holland with Paralympians Alexandra Rickham and Niki Birrell defending their Skud 18 title.
Internationally the scene is just as busy with the Youth Worlds underway, the Opti Europeans finishing, the F18 Worlds concluding, the B14 Europeans finishing and the Worlds about to start .... well you will have to read all about these stories and much more in the latest edition of our Sail-World UK newsletter.

UK Moth Nationals - Trading places on day three James Phare,  After a brief postponement however the fleet launched and racing was soon underway on the penultimate day of the UK Moth Nationals. IFDS Worlds 2010 day one Sandra Dijksman,  IFDS Worlds 2010 - For today there was only one race scheduled. At the start there was a gentle breeze, 5-8 knts from the SW, decreasing during the race. The 2.4mR class had some problems with the starting, caused by major windshifts and a general recall. When they are finally off, the wind started to decrease.... [more] Share this story

Rogers and Green end 470 campaign Lindsey Bell,  Sailing's double Olympic silver medallist Nick Rogers has decided to let go of his quest for Olympic gold at London 2012 following a frustrating regatta season. Rogers and Green, who won the Volvo Youth Sailing ISAF World Championships together in 1995, have called time on their 2012 qualifying campaign and will not join their Skandia Team GBR teammates at the 470 World Championships.... F18 Worlds 2010 Erguy France -provisional results 24 hours after event Sail-World.com,  F18 Worlds 2010 organisers have finally been able to present a set of provisional results. The official explanation is that their software could not order the tiebreaks correctly so nothing was posted. Seems that they could not get two race officials to sit together to add an extra manual sort column and produce a set of results. Might have even had to sit up quite late. Say another 30 minutes? Ten female crews have been racing in boats that will be used in the 2012 Games. RS:X European Championships 2010- Zubari and Alabau win Rory Ramsden,  The Medal Races wrapped up the action at the RS:X European Championships in Sopot, Poland today with Shahar Zubari (ISR) and Marina Alabau (ESP) both retaining their titles. First out onto the windward Leeward course was the mens fleet. Lionheart - J Class yacht now on the water Titch Blachford,  Lionheart is based on a Ranger design (77F Model) which was tank tested in 1936 but never built. Design work from the original hull lines was completed by Andre Hoek Naval Architects, with construction of the aluminium hull by the now famous Bloemsma Shipyard. At 1700 local time (1600 GMT) the cannon fired from the Royal Cork Yacht Club's start line at Weaver's Point near Crosshaven at the mouth of Cork Harbour to set the teams on their way in the 550-mile race to Ijmuiden, Holland.... Shetland Round Britain and Ireland Race - South West sailors home safe Andy Sinclair,  Shetland Round Britain and Ireland Race competitors are now safely home, the intrepid sailors from Devon and Cornwall all took part in the event, which was sponsored by Shetland Island Council.
