Sail-World doesn't read like a newspaper.

It's a great disappointment for Ian Thomson who was trying to beat the solo unassisted circumnavigation of Australia record. He has had to call into Sydney for repairs to his charging system - he was going so well too!
Further unfortunate news is that the Around Australia Rally scheduled to commence in 2011 has had to be rescheduled for a later date. Better announce it now than closer to departure time.
But you might raise a smile at the zany story of the very wet Scottish millionaire ex-footballer who couldn't win a trick. Read how he lost both his yacht and his helicopter in a couple of unfortunate hours and ended up having to swim for home.
While Jessica Watson is enjoying the adulation of Mooloolaba and the welcome back into her family home, Holland's Laura Dekker is waiting until next week to find out if the Children's Court will allow her to go global sailing. Down in the Indian Ocean, California's Abby Sunderland is having a tough time. The gales passing have winds gusting to 50 and 60 knots, but she's overcoming everything thrown at her.
Gutsy adventurer Don McIntyre and his three crew in the replica of Captain Bligh's Bounty Boat are on their last leg of a seven week journey from Vanuatu in the South Pacific to Kupang in Indonesia. It's not been so easy, for some familiar reasons...

Marine threat from abandoned Dutch yacht in South Pacific

Sailors in waters off New Zealand will need to be aware of a floating dismasted yacht after two Dutch sailors were winched off their boat this week. There is an emergency beacon attached to the yacht and New Zealand authorities were tracking it. Australian Solo sailor ahead of record as he rounds Tasmania
