Asia Pacific News

This week it's all about China, with a smattering of news from Korea thrown in and plenty of news from the Asia Pacific and beyond for good measure. With huge manufacturing and consumer potential what happens in China will affect the entire Asia-Pacific marine scene.

The 15th annual China International Boat Show has been held to great acclaim – from visitors, delegations and exhibitors. More than 400 domestic and international brands were on hand to bring boating to an eager Chinese population. The quality and spend of the attendees was up on previous years and exhibitors, including AIMEX, report strong interest, leads and sales at a business and consumer level.

One of the major events during CIBS was the first annual China International Boat Show Asian Marine and Boating Awards, sponsored by Louis XIII (Remy Martin) and held at the Four Seasons Hotel Ballroom in Shanghai.

The AMB Awards were described by the organisers as 'an attempt to set a new standard for recognizing excellence in the ever-growing marine industry in China'.

Key to the awards process was the fact that it was not a pre-condition of consideration that the nominees were advertisers with any particular media group or, had to exhibit at the China International Boat Show. The organisers are commended for their efforts and the very worthy winners congratulated. You can read the details below.

Also this week, some advances in the TetraMedia world, with MarineBusiness-World.com, Powerboat-World.com, the Asia-Pacific editions and Sail-World.com/Asia announcing they will be publishing both Chinese and Thai language content on their websites.

Industry advertisers should note that together, we are the largest marine news and information network in the world, with 17 marine sites worldwide. In February 2010, our sites had 190,000 unique visitors.

This is the reason that more and more events and marine companies are advertising with us.

Many more stories and industry news, so keep up and pop in regularly.

Top boating!

Jeni Bone, Editor MarineBusiness-World.com
