Editorial November 5, '09.
Step aboard, stow your gear and join the team for a stroll through all the world's powerboat happenings.
We've got it all, as usual, from competition to recreational and some good and bad news on the environmental front.
The bad news, of course, is the fire aboard one of the oil rigs off Australia's north west cape which Jeni Bone reports has resulted in a damaging oil spill certain to cause harm to both the pristine waters in that region and of course the marine life.
Colleague Nancy Knudsen has come up with a good news story, a superyacht which was seen at the recent Fort Lauderdale International Boat Show which emits zero emissions.
On the offshore front, all eyes this coming weekend will be on fabulous Key West and the Super Boat round, where 14 classes will go head to head for the glory and the fame.
The outboard boys are busy, too, with action in both Formula 1 and Formula 2 classes set for battle.
In NSW, with summer approaching NSW Maritime is ramping up its Boat for Life campaign headed by former rugby league great Andrew ‘ET' Ettingshausen.
Kayakers can also gain experience form an on-line resource being handled by the New Zealand Coast Guard.
Finally, I'm sure I don't need to point out that Maritimo, the Gold Coast Australia yard headed by industry leader Bill Barry-Cotter is a powerboat/motoryacht builder.
So it may surprise you to learn that Maritimo has recently built and delivered 15 Sabot sailing dinghies.
Why?
Read on, you're on Powerboat-World where all the information is at your fingertips.
