The London 2012 Olympic Sailing Competition runs from 29 July to 12 August and brings together 380 of the world’s best sailors to race on Weymouth Bay.
Sailing made its Olympic debut in 1900 and has appeared at every Olympic Games since 1908.

Big winds, big waves and snow on the ranges. Amazing weather on much of the Australian east coast and certainly not a time to be on the water.

So now is good time to be thinking about the summer, the Coffs Harbour Race, the three Hobart races and what is shaping as Australia’s largest ever sailing regard, the 2013 Festival of Sailing, incorporating the Audi IRC Australian Championships.

This is a big year for Australia on the ISAF Scene with David Kellett standing for the ISAF Presidency. David is true to form running a very transparent and open campaign. It will be wonderful for World Sailing if he gets the nod at the annual conference in Dublin next month.

Looking to the Rolex World Sailor of the Year, Australia’s chances in the Mens category are pretty good, with our three Gold Medallist teams in contention. The 2012 candidates are Tom Slingsby (AUS), Ben Ainslie (GBR), Mathew Belcher and Malcolm Page (AUS), Nathan Outteridge and Iain Jensen (AUS) and Loïck Peyron (FRA).
