America’s Cup World Series action took place in San Francisco, California USA from the 2nd-7th October with tough competition across the fleet. During day four of the event, Aussie James Spithill of Oracle Team USA delivered a spectacular pitchpole. Following the completion of seven out of seven races, Oracle Team USA Spithill returned to form and claimed the event victory and Team BAR snagged second place with Artemis Racing - White and Emirates Team New Zealand claiming third and fourth respectively. Loick Peyron and Energy Team of France sailed hard on the Bay but ended the competition in seventh place on the leaderboard with a score of 6-7-7-3-6-7-6 – 47. The 2012 Kiteboard Course Racing Worlds took place in Cagliari at the same time with a prize purse of 15000 EUR. Qualifying for the medal race series took place over two days with the top ten men and women respectively qualifying to compete. Early on, the men’s overall leader, American Johnny Heineken had a one point lead over second placed Riccardo Leccese of Italy whilst over in the women’s competition, American Erika Heineken partially lost her lead to the second ranked Steph Bridge of the UK. After the final races were completed, John Heineken of the US would be at the top of the men’s medal race results with Adam Koch (USA) in second and France’s Julien Kerneur in third. For the women’s medal race results, US sailor Erika Heineken came out on top with Steph Bridge of Great Britain in second and Carline Adrien of France in third. The 2012 PWA Sylt World Cup took place in Sylt, Germany from the 28th September to the 7th October. The event also marked the end of the 2012 PWA World Tour. Across the ten days of competition, a range from cross to cross offshore wave riding to perfect freestyle conditions hit Sylt and epic battles played out. By the end of the event, Antoine Albeau of France was at the top of the Men’s slalom with Ross Williams of the UK in second and Frenchman Ludovic Jossin in third. Men’s freestyle results saw Jose ‘Gollito’ Estredo of Venezuela in first, Dutchman Tonky Frans in second and fellow Dutchman Kiri Thode in third. For the Men’s wave competition, Philip Koster (GER) claimed first with Spaniards Alex Mussolini and Victor Fernandez claiming second and third respectively. Antoine Albeau also claimed the top spot in the men’s slalom results with Dutchman Bjorn Dunkerbeck in second and American Micah Buzianis in third. Spanish women Iballa and Daida Ruano Moreno claimed first and second in the women’s wave competition with Laure Treboux of Switzerland coming in third. Overall for the official women’s wave world rankings, Iballa and Daida are in first and second with Switzerland’s Karen Jaggi in third. France’s Valeria Arrighetti is at the top of the official PWA World Rankings in women’s slalom with Karen Jaggi in second and Lena Erdil of Turkey in third. Official world rankings for women’s freestyle have Dutchwoman Sara-Quita Offringa in first with Laure Treboux and Arriane Aukes in second and third respectively.

A fleet of Swan 60s are preparing for the very first Nord Stream Race which is set to get underway with the arrival of the teams in St. Petersburg Russia on the 15th October.
