With the promise of strong winds, Race 6 was shaping up to be a wonderful day of winter racing. A fleet of 140 yachts took to the water and were greeted by moderate south westerly winds.

A good clean start by the fleet made for a wonderful winter’s day sailing.

Winners of Division A, Getaway-Sailing.com had an ‘awesome day on the water’. Skipper Peter Goldsworthy said 'It’s Karma! The crew work was outstanding today. Our boat can be a little difficult to sail around the harbor – but it was the crew work that helped us across the line today. Part of today’s crew is made up of our high caliber sailing students.'

'We were looking forward to the predicated 30 knots of wind but the wind wasn’t quite that strong. We have a motto on our boat – Go Hard or Go Home. We definitely went out hard today!' added Peter.

Vanguard, skippered by Dick Cawse, placed second in Division A with Sailors with disabilities third. 'A fabulous day on water. There was a good, fresh constant breeze which helped all boats rocket around the course. The weather forecasts had reported doom and gloom but that didn’t happen so we didn’t get wet.' said Dick Cawse.

In the Sydney 38 Division, X3 took out first place, with Ichi Bandit second and Rush third. Pam Scrivenor, onboard X3 said 'It was heavy going today as we only had 9 on board, but it was great to have some breeze.'

Warwick Rooklyn, skipper of Ichi Bandit, commented on his race 'It was a good race and even better to have some breeze - although it wasn't as strong as predicted. If it had blown in as predicted there would have been some challenges!'

'In the Sydney 380D, there has been some close sailing. If you miss the start or you aren't in the top 3 as the fleet rounds that top mark then you are not going to win,' continued Warwick.

'We are seeing tight results in the 38s - Today we had a great battle with X3 and there was only a few boat lengths in it at the finish. It is pleasing to see so many boats lining up for the start each week.' in closing said Warwick Rooklyn.

Last week’s winner of Division H, Clewless?, finished second behind Jagged Edge with Umbakumba third.

The lucky winner of the Audi A6 for the week was Glenn Crane of Lahara II - winner of Division J.

Other division winners were John Cameron’s More Witchcraft (Division B), Arthur Psaltis and Jon Ross’s Into the Mystic (Division C), Andrew Cochrane’s Pendragon (Division D), Robert Bryden’s Tojo Never Made it to Darwin (Division E), Terenece Burke’s Brigus (Division F), P Edwards & L Ainsworth’s Gondwana (Division G), Glenn Crane’s Lahara II (Division J) and Nicholas Hogg’s Spirit of Freya (Division K).
