The RS Tera Pro is one of the boats being considered for Youth Olympic Games which will be held in Singapore in 2010 and will include two sailing disciplines for both boys and girls – single handed sailing and windsurfing.

ISAF are currently selecting the equipment to be used - The RS Tera Pro is one of the boats being considered and selection would be more icing on the cake for the Tera following its rapid growth in the two short years since introduction. The Tera gained ISAF Recognised Status in November last year.

ISAF say they are wish to complete the pathway between junior sailing and the elite youth events. RS feel that the RS Tera Pro is ideal for this transition age and size for single-handed sailing. 'The Tera Pro offers exactly the right weight range for young sailors of 15 or 16, particularly the girls' comments Paul Handley the designer.

Just as crucially, the Tera is a modern looking boat with exciting performance which would suit this kind of competition and the media. Developing nations would appreciate the fact that the Tera is very competitively priced when compared to its rivals.

RS have confirmed they would supply boats for the Youth Olympic regatta and also ensure availability of boats for continental regional qualifiers. Tera distributors are already in place in most regions of the world.

Martin Wadhams, MD of RS explains 'Singapore is expected to be a light wind venue so the choice of a boat designed specifically to suit sailors of this size is particularly important. We are sure this will be understood by the decision makers so believe the Tera would be a good choice for selection.'

The RS Tera also has the option of a smaller 'Sport' sail which allows the boat to be used for novice training from age 8 years upwards. This versatility would give great usage for any boats purchased by National Authorities as part of their build-up to the Games and help develop junior sailing around the world.

ISAF will make a decision on the boats and boards to be used within the next couple of weeks, by 1 June, so young sailors have not got to wait long to find out what they will sail in Singapore in 2010.
