ISAF is currently accepting nominations for members of the Committees, Sub-Committees and Commissions of the International Sailing Federation for November 2008-November 2012. The International Sailing Federation holds its quadrennial General Assembly on Saturday 15 November 2008 in Madrid, Spain (at the end of the ISAF Annual Conference). On this occasion the ISAF Officers (President and Vice-Presidents), members of the ISAF Council and all other ISAF Committee, Sub-Committee and Commission members automatically retire and are eligible for re-nomination or new candidates can be nominated. The ISAF Committees, together with their Sub-Committees and Commissions, are a vital part of the ISAF structure, providing input on their areas of expertise onto the ISAF Council, which is the final decision making body of ISAF. The Committees represent the many diverse aspects of the sailing world, from Race Officials and the Racing Rules of Sailing through to Events and Equipment, and Youth and Development. Nominations for ISAF Committee, Sub-Committee and Commission members must be submitted to the ISAF Secretariat through an ISAF Member National Authority (MNA). MNAs have already been sent individual correspondence regarding the nomination procedure for Committee, Sub-Committee and Commission members. The deadline for receipt of nomination forms is 1200 hours UTC on 1 August 2008. Please contact your relevant MNA for details on how they select candidates or if you wish to make a recommendation for a Committee member - details of ISAF MNAs and how to get in contact with them can be found at www.sailing.org/mna. Full details on the nomination and appointment process of ISAF Committee members is covered in ISAF Regulation 6 - www.sailing.org/regulations. A summary of the nomination procedure has been sent to each MNA and can also be found, along with the Nomination Form, at www.sailing.org/generalassembly.
