Big fleet racing in store for Sailing Series Melges 20 - Act 4

by Melges 20 on 30 Jun 2016
Fleet in action - Sailing Series® Melges 20 Riva Del Garda Act 4 International Audi Melges 20 Class Association
The entry list for the final 2016 Sailing Series® Melges 20 event is long, lean and mean with more than 50 teams scheduled to attend, and will potentially surpass all-time Class attendance records with 15 different nations from around the world being represented: Austria, Australia, Czech Republic, Germany, Great Britain, Italy, Japan, Monaco, Netherlands, Poland, Russia, South Africa, Sweden, Switzerland and the United States.

This event is on target to be one of the most incredible Melges 20 regattas ever. It will be completely jam-packed with over-the-top competitive racing as the World Championship in Scarlino is fast approaching, and teams begin to aim for 'the big one' with razor-sharp focus.

And after all, Riva del Garda is one of the Class' most favorite venues. It offers up the perfect opportunity for many teams to further dial-in those last little details that could potentially result in a major win in August.

Many champions will be present as the Riva del Garda wind factory cranks up and runs solid for three days, Friday through Sunday with eight races planned.

The likes of reigning World Champion John Kilroy on Samba Pa Ti, Miami Winter Series Champion Liam Kilroy on Wildman, Richard Davies' Section 16, Alessandro Rombelli's STIG, European World Series leader Guido Miani on Out of Reach, Michael Illbruck's Pinta and of course, current World Series ranking leader Matteo Marenghi Vaselli aboard Raya are among the teams to watch.
