by International Kiteboarding Association on 28 Sep 2016
Pingtan Kiteboarding Grand Slam - IKA Kiteboarding World Championships Alexandru Baranescu
It is just two and a half weeks to go until the 2016 IKA Kiteboarding World Championships Final in Porto Pollo, Italy, where the World Titles in Freestyle and Big Air will be awarded.

The IKA Kiteboarding World Championships have seen successful events in Egypt and Leucate, and most recently in Pingtan China, with riders battling for their share of the 50000 EUR prize pot and important points for the World Championship standings.

Porto Pollo will host the finals in Big Air and Freestyle from October 16 to 22, with another 50000 EUR prize money up for grabs and the titles awarded at the end of the event.

Currently in the lead in the freestyle discipline (after two events) is Carlos Mario (BRA) ahead of Youri Zoon (NED) and Alex Pastor (ESP) in the mens division and Bruno Kajiya (BRA) ahead of Annabel van Westerop (ARU) and Paula Novotna (CZE) in the ladies. Depending on the outcome of the Porto Pollo event, anyone of those has a chance to win the official world title.

In the big air discipline, Lewis Crathern (GBR) has taken the lead after the Pingtan event ahead of Marius Hoppe (GER) and Posito Martinez (DOM). In the womens division Bibiana Magaji (SVK) is in the lead but might be challenged by riders that were absent in China.
