A Family Tradition - Torben, Martine and Marco Grael - Rio Olympics World Sailing
Brazilians have great expectations at Rio 2016 for their sailing team. Sailing is the sport which has given the most gold medals to Brazil in the Olympic Games, six, and the second in line with the most Olympic medals, 17. And the two best Olympic athletes in Brazil are sailors: Robert Scheidt and Torben Grael who have won five medals each.
Another Grael, Torben’s brother Lars, has jumped on the Olympic podium twice so the Grael family has seven Olympic medals and have an opportunity to get more in Rio…
Torben will guide the Brazilian sailors as the team coach, but he will also advise two of them as a father: Marco Grael will race in the 49er class with Gabriel Borges and Martine Grael with Kahena Kunze are one of the favorites in the 49erFX after being crowned world champions in 2014 and taking the silver in the 2013 and 2015 Worlds.
