Dangerzone heads up the beat - 2012 Harken Young 88 Nationals

Racing in the 2013 Young 88 Nationals did not begin today until nearly 1330hours as the wind was almost non existent.

The Race Committee, from Royal NZ Yacht Squadron, were anchored approximately 2nm from the Rangitoto Lighthouse searching for the elusive breeze from 0900 this morning with the 21 entrants following.

Finally at 1338hrs Race 1 commenced taking nearly an hour to complete the nearly three mile course. Racing has concluded for the day with only two races completed.

On Handicap Waka Huia, helmed by Bill Dalbeth, is in first place followed by Outrageous, helmed by RNZYS Past Commodore Ross Masters.

Line Honours for the day go to Volvo Ocean Race sailor Mike Sanderson on Flash Gordon with two second placings and Waka Huia is second.

We look forward to a better breeze tomorrow, Sunday. PredictWind is forecasting not much breeze though!
