Yachting Victoria Awards - Junior Sailor of the Year announced

O'pen Bic World Champion Jack Challands from Parkdale/Sandringham Yacht Clubs won this year’s YV Junior sailor of the year award presented at the Sandringham YC. Jack had a stellar year on the water starting with the O'pen Bic World Cup in Germany last July where he took out the U13 World Title after placing fourth in the preceding German O'pen Cup.

This last Summer Jack managed to sail in four different class titles with great results.

• Pacer Nationals - First Junior
• O'pen Bic Nationals - Fourth Overall / Third U16
• Minnow Victorian States - Second Overall
• F16 Viper Victorian States - Second Overall



He is actively campaigning a F16 Viper Catamaran as part of the Yachting Victoria Youth Catamaran program with the goal of competing in the class's 2017 World Championship in Australia plus also sailing his O'pen Bic.

With the 2015 O'pen Bic World Cup being sailed out of Safety Beach Sailing Club on Port Philip Bay starting the 27th Dec to the 3rd Jan.

Jack will be part of a very strong Australian Team competing against competitors from over twelve countries heading to Australian shores with a fleet expected to top 200.
