The VX One is an exciting modern one design keelboat with the looks and performance of a dinghy. With speeds in excess of 20 knots attained when the breeze is up and a clean and simple layout the VX Ones are so much fun to sail and are turning heads every time they take to the water.
10 boats are expected at the Magic Marine VX One Nationals at Lake Macquarie Yacht Club on the Australia Day long weekend at the end of January. There are three new boats due in Australia in early January and manufacturing will begin at Mackay Boats New Zealand early next year. These are exciting times for the class.
There were five boats at the Midwinters at the Royal Motor Yacht Club Toronto in June where everyone had such a great time sailing together as a class. With more breeze and a bigger fleet for the nationals it will be a regatta not to be missed.
The VX One has proven to be competitive against other sportsboats with Andrew York finishing sixth in the recent ASBA Queensland State Championships and beating the fleet of 25 to 30 footers home in the opening Super 30 Gold Cup race of the season on Sydney Harbour. While the performance in mixed fleets is great it is the one design racing which is the most fun.
If you are interested in having the most fun possible on the water check out VX One Australia or check out VX One Australia on facebook and contact Yorky.
Come for a test sail after racing on the Saturday or Sunday of the nationals you will be welcome.
