Valencia Maritime Authority keeps America's Cup VIP's ashore

The Valencia Maritime Authority has caused a major kerfuffle by restricting luxury craft hired to take corporate VIP's to operating just six nautical miles of the Spanish coastline.
BMW Oracle Racing has hired three large, internationally certified, luxury motoryachts to take out several dozen corporate guests, all of whom are top executives with leading international companies.

Another major milestone reached in what is being hailed as Australia's ‘Tour de France' on the water.
The ‘2011 Around Australia Ocean Race' and ‘2011-12 Around Australia Ocean Rally' events announces that less than eight months after launching and nine months before Rally entries, and 13 months before Race entries close, collective slot reservations have now topped 250.

With the first race cancelled because of lack of wind it doesn't look much better for the rest of this week. The best chance looks to be Tuesday where the forecast is up to 14kts in the morning but as with all forecasts this could change.

Several of the world's top ranked sailors in each class battled it out in near perfect conditions off Ft. Lauderdale, FL. Eight races were held over three days. Americans Anna Tunnicliffe and Zach Railey took the titles in the Laser Radial class and Finn class respectively.

While the weather prognosis for Wednesday is much better, than today, the dogs of Valencia, can expect a day on the chain.
Strong winds are predicted for Tuesday, so even if it were a race day in the 33rd match, it is unlikely any racing would be possible. The string wind will probably mean that BMW Oracle Racing will be dropping their wingsail as a precaution.

Where's this cup going? For the Opening Day the Cup was spotted whizzing across the Village after it had impressed the crowd at the Sunday opening event. But if you missed that there was still plenty to check out along with hamburgers and paella in plentiful supply. Even with such a completely different event from 2007, Valencia has a great venue for the America's Cup.
