America's Cup: Fire blazes for several hours on Cup construction site
|
A blaze broke out in the bulkhead of San Francisco's Pier 29 at 1:50 PM and burned for several hours, forcing a 4 alarm response which closed down the Embarcadero and snarled traffic. The shed behind the bulkhead and the adjoining work going on at Pier 27 was not effected. The area is being demolished and rebuilt in prepration for the 34th America's Cup At this time the source of the fire is still under investigation, but being that there is ongoing construction going on with lot of welding, the mystery may be solved soon.
