Bob Fisher, one of the world's top international yachting journalists, and certainly the top writer on the America's Cup, is in Naples, Italy for the Fourth round of the America's Cup World Series.
Bob is a multihuller from way back, having competed for Britain in the Little America's Cup and has been covering the America's Cup since 1967.
He writes:
Dear Diary – Day 4 - America's Cup World Series - Naples, Italy
Day four . . . there is no day four. Preservation of the boats overrode all other considerations; the difficulty in retrieving the boats after racing posed the greatest, and seemingly insurmountable, problem.
The entrance to the dock area faced the wind and the waves which had built on the swell, and it was perceived that the conditions would worsen and prevent boats safely docking.
Contrarily, the dock on the other side, protected from the easterly wind was too shallow and there was danger of boats grounding and doing significant damage.
The Sunday programme now reads as follows: Match Racing 1. Artemis Racing v Luna Rossa - Swordfish 2. Oracle Racing - Bundock v Luna Rossa - Piranha
This will be followed by the Match Racing final.
The final race of the Fleet Racing Championship (with the heavily loaded points).
If racing proves impossible, and only in that case, the spare race (held on Thursday) will be used to decide the Fleet Racing championship.
