Team Korea have announced that their America’s Cup sailing team has been joined by two current World Champion sailors. Australian Nathan Outteridge comes aboard as new skipper and helmsman, looking to continue the success that the team has had with its policy of using young skiff talent to lead its challenge for the 34th America’s Cup. Outteridge (26) replaces former 49er World Champion and Olympc medlaist in the class, Chris Draper, who left the team before Christmas and joined the newly announced Luna Rossa, as a helmsman. Team Korea currently lies fourth overall in the standings for the America's Cup World series. Twenty six year old Nathan has three World 49er titles, to his credit, three ISAF World Youth titles, and a World Moth title. The outstanding sailor has shown the ability to master any class that he takes on. He will work committments to Team Korea and the America's Cup World Series with his Olympic committments, in which he will represent Australia in the 49er class. 'I'm really excited to join the team, it is a great opportunity for me and I'm looking forward to getting my hands on the tiller at the first event in Naples. It is going to be a very busy year for me, with the Olympics in London and also now joining Team Korea but I am looking forward to it and can't wait to get sailing with the team,' said Outteridge

Scott recently missed selction for the GBR team for the 2012 Olympics, despite being current World and European Champion in the Finn class, with three times Olympic Gold medalist, Ben Ainslie being preferred. Ainslie subsequently formed his own America's cup team, backed by Oracle Racing, which not race until September 2012. 'Joining Team Korea is definitely the most exciting step I've taken in sailing, I can't wait to get on board the White Tiger and start racing in and amongst the best'. said Giles Scott Team Korea CEO, Kim Dong Young is delighted with the two newest members of the team. 'We are a team for the future and we believe that our talented and youthful guys will continue our strong performance on the Americas Cup World Series. These boats require a different style from the past, fast thinking, fast sailing, fit and strong. We have built a very strong bond within the team and I am sure that both Nathan and Giles will soon become part of our family.' Team Korea’s sailing crew includes Nathan Outteridge (Skipper and helm), Giles Scott (Tactician and float),Troy Tindill (Wing Trim and Boat Captain), Mark Bukeley (Trimmer and sail Coordinator), and Matt Cornwell (Bow and Rules)
