Plymouth, 26 August.
Construction of the Race Village for the America's Cup World Series in
Plymouth has started this week, with containers being unloaded and
moved into place and bases beginning to take shape.
This week
more than 100 containers were offloaded from the cargo ship and have
been placed around the Race Village area. Team containers are in place
so that team bases can be built, while over on the Hoe, all of the ACTV
containers will be set up over the weekend and into next week. The
sail loft and ACRM base are already up. Read more |

27 August.
America's Cup Uncovered Episode 5 picks up at the first AC Match Race
Championship, with Terry Hutchinson of Artemis Racing and Loick Peyron
from Energy Team providing a behind-the-scenes view of the race in
action.

26 August.
The America's Cup traveled down under this week to Australia and
Hamilton Island Race Week. ORACLE Racing skipper James Spithill, and
fellow Australian Iain Murray, the Regatta Director for AC34, were on
hand to answer questions about the Cup. Tom Ehman, the Vice Commodore
(AC) of the defending Golden Gate Yacht Club, led several panel
discussions, to standing room only crowds, about the 'new look'

| Countdown to America’s Cup World Series San Diego |
San Diego, 25 August.
In under three months’ time, the America’s Cup World Series will land
in San Diego for the U.S. debut of the new look America’s Cup. A new
professional global circuit, the AC World Series features the sport’s
best athletes competing on some of the most physically demanding boats
in the world - the AC45 wing-sailed catamarans. Read more |
When
your heart monitor tells you that you’ve gone over 100% of your
maximum heart rate, something is wrong. Three times during a race this
happened to Sean Clarkson while racing the Artemis AC45 in Cascais.
Fortunately Clarkson was still breathing at the end of the race, but
there’s no doubt he and his fellow AC45 team mates are working to the
limits - and beyond - of their fitness. Read more |
23 August. The
America's Cup World Series arrived in Plymouth on Tuesday when the
cargo ship containing all the material from Cascais pulled up to its
berth at the Millbay Docks. Now comes the hard part: unloading and

America’s Cup TV made its debut at the inaugural America’s Cup World
Series event in Cascais, Portugal. The goal was to leave fans on the
edge of their seats with this thrilling ‘feel like you are on the AC45

22 August. It was 160 years ago today, on August 22nd, 1851, when the yacht America
triumphed over the pride of the British fleet in a race around the Isle
of Wight, off England's south coast, winning the trophy that came to
bear the yacht’s name.

At 160 years old, the America’s Cup is the
oldest trophy in international sport. The America’s Cup has evolved into
one of the world's leading sporting competitions – featuring the best
sailors on the world’s fastest boats, the wing-sailed AC45 and AC72
catamarans. The new America's Cup World Series opened its inaugural
season in August 2011 and continues with events around the world. In the
summer of 2013, the 34th America's Cup begins with the Louis Vuitton
Cup July 4-September 1, followed by the America's Cup Finals September
7-22.
