Norway has lost the overall lead in the B1 fleet of the World Blind Sailing Championships for the first time since racing started in Rotorua on Sunday.

Four races were sailed on Lake Rotorua today pushing Italy into the lead in the B1 fleet on 20 points, followed by the New Zealand team on 25 points. Norway follows closely, rounding off the top three with 26.5 points. The team with the lowest points will win the competition.

Paulien Eitjes, skippering the New Zealand team in the B2 fleet, continues to dominate with four wins from four races today. This makes it eight wins in a row for Paulien.

New Zealand now has 12 points in the B2 category, followed by Great Britain on 24 points, and Canada on 29 points. Japan follows the top three closely on 30 points, while the United States is someway behind on 48.

Great Britain continues its domination of the B3 fleet, winning a further two races today, along with two seconds. This puts them in a significant lead on 12 points, followed by New Zealand on 21 points and the United States on 29 points. Canada is in fourth position on 39 points, and Japan in fifth position on 42 points.

New Zealand is in the top three is each fleet category.

Good breezes prevailed on Lake Rotorua today, with wind predominately coming from the west-south-west at a speed of between 6 and 18 knots.

There were no major incidents on the water today, but a number of boats took penalties.

Tomorrow <>, was due to be a lay day, however, it is likely racing will be held to take advantage of the wind.
