Heat 1 After a General recall this race started in 12 to 14 knots with a two metre choppy swell from the north. The 470 class sailors using this regatta as a build up for their National contest to be held in March dominated the race. Paul Snow-Hanson and Jason Saunders led throughout from Simon Cooke and Scott Illingworth and Francisco Lardies and Finn Drummond. These sailors were a considerable distance in front of the chasing fleet. These heavier crews were comfortable in this stronger breeze and held their positions to the finish with Paul Snow-Hanson and Jason Saunders winning.

Heat 2 The wind shifted into the east and the majority of the fleet sailed that side of the course. The wind also dropped during this race down to 8 knots. At the first mark Maloney was closely followed by Snow-Hansen and then Dunning-Beck. Positions remained the same after the next lap but on the next downwind leg Snow-Hansen

demonstrated great downwind skills and took the lead which he never relinquished. With a dying breeze the other top placings remained the same with Maloney 2nd and Dunning-Beck finishing 3rd.

Heat 3 The wind significantly dropped down to around 5 knots and was becoming very shifty. After a General recall the fleet started under a Z flag with the majority of the sailors choosing to go to the right side of the course, however Snow-Hansen decided the other side was better and ended up narrowly claiming first place at the 1st mark from Lee and Francis who choose the middle of the course, from 3rd place Mannering and Weeks who came from the right. Conditions become very fluky and Maloney who was well down the fleet emerged after some timely wind shifts to claim the lead which she held through to the finish. Turner and Hansen sailed into 2nd and Snow-Hansen managed to hold onto 3rd.
