Sail-World.com : Kidman supports Australian sailors

Kidman supports Australian sailors

'Nic Kidman and High Jackman - Australia the movie'
Actor Nicole Kidman is lending her support to the Australian Olympic team.
She has sent messages of support to our 470 dinghy sailors, who have called their skiff Australia after her latest film.

Men's 470 sailors Nathan Wilmot and Malcolm Page name all their Mackay built boats after Kidman's films, taking to the water in skiffs named Bangkok Hilton, Dead Calm and Days of Thunder and recently Dead Calm.

Wilmot and Page made front pages world wide when their boat Dead Calm was photographed stranded in a grass green algae field on Fushan Bay, Qingdao in the lead-up to the Games.

'I feel like I'm almost part of the team because of the rather lovely tradition of naming your boats after my movies,' Kidman told Channel 7.

'I hope that Australia, which is the latest one, will be a great boat name for you and will bring you good luck and success at the games. ‘

Wilmot and Page have won five world titles but have yet to win a gold medal, but half way through the Qingdao regatta they are atop the leader-board, tracking towards a gold medal.

'Fingers crossed that you can bring one home,' Kidman said.
