New York -Liverpool neck and neck Clipper 07-08
|
The battle for the two top spots in this race continues as each of the teams on New York and Liverpool 08 try to out sail each other. New York is playing an excellent tactical game by positioning themselves between the finish line and Liverpool 08. It would appear that skipper Duggie Gillespie and his team are covering every move that Liverpool 08 make. Only 40 nautical miles behind the leaders there is an even bigger story playing out between Hull & Humber and westernaustralia2011.com as they battle for the last podium place. The two boats appear like they are glued together on the race viewer as neither skipper wishes to let the other out of his sights so close to the finish. At the back of the fleet both Jamaica and Qingdao are in the Sunda Straits and have picked up more wind. The crew on Jamaica even managed to see Krakatoa earlier today as skipper Simon Bradley reported: 'Just passing through Selat Sunda and we are treated to three very smoky eruptions from the Son of Krakatoa, the newer and smaller version of the famous volcano Krakatoa. Great plumes of dark smoke going way up into the sky before finally dispersing on the wind. Very impressive!' It looks like the majority of the fleet will successfully complete the full course before the time runs out on this race and cross the finish line in the Singapore Straits.
