After Tuesday's rogue wingsail incident, probably something that Emirates Team NZ could have done without, but equally could have been a lot a worse. Maybe to the point of striking a different angle and toppling the crane.

On Thursday the team rigged up, but didn't launch.

'It was windy the other day and we did a bit of damage'… Grant Dalton talking about Tuesday, the day a big gust of south-westerly wind caught the wing as it was being lifted.

'America’s Cup Race Management tells us we have got to be able to race in 30 knots so teams have to be able to get the wing up in it. It’s not like we could say ‘we can’t put the wing up so we can’t go sailing’.'

Chris Salthouse, who’s responsible for on the water operations said: 'lift procedures had been reviewed to make sure it won’t happen again. No one was hurt and the damage not too bad so the lesson was learned without paying too much for it
