The Rolex Sydney Hobart Yacht Race Committee have scratched Wild Thing for non-compliance with lodging of documents from the designer and builder under section 4.1 of the Notice of Race. Commodore, Howard Piggott, made the announcement at 1030hrs local. Specifically, Howard referred to the fact that the Race Committee had give Wild Thing's owner, Grant Wharington, every chance to meet the requirements for the vessel's design and construction in accordance with the American Bureau of Shipping (ABS Guide). 'The Race Committee has worked with Grant to allow him up to three hours before the race to provide the documentation required and the Race Committee has no option but to not accept their entry.'
Grant has not been available for comment yet and is believed to have thought he was compliant, as late as 0930hrs local. Commodore Piggott also added that Wild Thing will be asked to leave the course, should she appear and will be listed as DNS (Did Not Start). Documentation had not been received by 1000hrs local and relates to the extensive modifications made to the vessel in recent months.
