Leg 5 of the Volvo Ocean Race got underway from Auckland on Sunday afternoon. Sail-World's Richard Gladwell was on the water and followed the six strong fleet from the start to when the fleet exited the Waitemata and headed for Cape Horn.

Here is how he saw the day, Team Sanya led around both legs inside the Waitemata before rounding the top mark for the final time and headed off to a final rounding mark off Auckland's East Coast Bays. The weather closed in with the approaching tropical depression.
