Volvo Ocean Race: Onboard with Iker Martinez and Telefonica + Video

'Iker Martinez and his Kaenon’s - Telefonica - Volvo Auckland Stopover, Practice Race'    Richard Gladwell

Sail-World was offered the very privileged position of racing with double Olympic medalist Iker Martinez, and the crew Telefonica, overall race leaders in the 2011-12 Volvo Ocean Race.

The day started with two practice starts and then a circuit of the full In Port course which will run between the Viaduct Harbour, North Head and then back to a rounding mark off Northcote Point, just the other sid eof the Harbour Bridge. Four of the Volvo Ocean Race fleet participated in the full practice session.

Here's a gallery of images from the day, plus the video, which has the onboard audio - no music. We switch to a different microphone after three minutes and the audio quality becomes more clear and louder - you may need to adjust your volume.
