Volvo Ocean Race: Camper and Puma take the lead at the end of Day 4
|
Camper sailed by Emirates Team NZ and Puma Ocean Racing are now joint leaders of the Volvo Ocean Race, as of 2200hrs UTC on 16 December 2011. The two yachts seem to have picked the optimum track to break through into fresher breezes. Currently they are sailing at around 13kts in 18kts of breeze, as the other boats get in behind. However to the south Groupama has made a big break with the fleet and is sailing in 27kt winds, and showing 18kts of boatspeed. The actual destination for the yachts is not known for security reasons, however the official race map, now shows a 'Stealth Zone' extending right across to India, and it is assumed that the destination for rendezvous with a heavy security ship will take place outside this zone.
