New Zealand match racing team, Waka Racing report in from the Argo Group Gold Cup, Bermuda, where they reached the semi-finals in the ISAF Level 1 regatta which is part of the World Match Racing Tour
Hello Supporters, Family and Friends.
It has been a long week here in Bermuda and a good one at that. Our luck ran out after the epic quarter final win over Ian Williams, where we didn't manage to go further. We finishing a solid fourth in the strong 24 team event.
We lost the semi final yesterday to eventual winner Torvar Mirsky, nothing seemed to go our way. He sailed a really good series and deserved the overall victory.
Today we went out for the petit final against Francesco Bruni. It was again a day where we couldn't get our ducks in line and we lost that 2-0. A slightly disappointing way to go out but none the less a great result.
We have sailed the challenging boats well all week and had a good grip on the tricky harbor conditions. This is the second time we have made the semi finals at a World Tour event and nice to do it at the end of the season. We have our fingers crossed now to be given a spot in the Monsoon Cup in November. We are all making our way home now after six months on the road.
