Australian catamaran sailor Peter Berry is on a roll. He started the winter racing season off with an overall win in the three-race XXX Series hosted by Whitsunday Sailing Club.
Then he sealed a regatta win at the 2011 Airlie Beach Race Week in the Multihull Division.
Fully powered by Ullman Sails, Peter and his crew on Pescott Whitehaven 11.8m 'J’Ouvert' took first overall at the XXX Series in late July after scoring solid results in all three distance races, including the Around the Whitsundays race, the Airlie to Henning Island and Back race, and the Windward Leewards in Pioneer Bay.
Peter then took his catamaran to Airlie Beach Race Week 2011 (August 12-18) where he secured the Multihull division overall win after finishing four of the six total races in first place and dropping a fifth place finish as his only throw out.
In preparation for this season of racing, Peter worked closely with Ullman Sails Sunshine Coast focusing on boat optimization for rating in the multihull OMR rating rule. Peter races with Ullman Sails GP Race sails, including a upwind sails built with GPL carbon, a new Red Line Racing A3 and an A5/Screecher.
With two regatta victories under his belt thus far, Peter and his team are now looking forward to the Multihull Rendezvous later this year.
