Artemis Racing fighting on two fronts in AC World Series and Cowes

Artemis Racing is currently competing in the America's Cup World Series and the Extreme Sailing Series Act 5.

Racing got off to a later start than planned this afternoon but the AC45s made the most of the light breeze getting in three fleet races, followed by one match race.
The conditions were shifty and challenging for all teams here in Cascais. It was an opportunity for some of the newer teams like Team Korea and Team China to try to move out in front.
Artemis Racing was over the start line early in Race 1 of the ACWS Match Race Qualifiers so it was hard for the Swedish team to recover, finishing seventh overall. In the second race, Skipper Terry Hutchinson had a clean start and the team sailed a solid race, passing Oracle Racing Spithill midway to win by a clear margin. Race 3 saw four teams over early at the start, fortunately Artemis Racing was not one of them, but the team got out of phase on the second run and finished sixth.
'We did a good job battling back in Race 1 and Race 2 today, but it doesn’t take much to get out of sync. It was tricky and very opportunistic racing out there today,' said Skipper Terry Hutchinson.
The top two teams from today – Emirates Team New Zealand and Oracle Racing Spithill - went on to match race and it was the Kiwis who took home the prize. Racing continues tomorrow through Sunday.
Meanwhile this week in Cowes, Artemis Racing have not been able to repair the team’s Extreme 40 in time to return to racing. Disappointingly, the damaged that resulted from Edmond de Rothschilds ploughing into the Swedish team on Monday was so severe that the team has had to order a new port stern section from Marstrom in Sweden, which will be fitted in Cowes later this week.
At the request of Artemis Racing, the International Jury re-opened the protest hearing earlier today based on new evidence provided by four witnesses from three other teams. The outcome was that both Artemis Racing and Edmond de Rothschilds have been disqualified from the event. The next event for the Extreme 40 will be in Trapani next month. Hats off to Santi, Michele, Blood, Andy, Nick and Brad for all their efforts this week.
Artemis Racing is the Challenger of Record for the 34th America’s Cup. Artemis Racing competes in the America’s Cup World Series, Extreme Sailing Series, RC44 Championship Tour and Vulcain Trophy. Artemis Racing represents the Royal Swedish Yacht Club (KSSS).
