Laser 4.7 World Championships day 1– Revised placings
|
Laser 4.7 World Championships are being hosted by St. Francis Yacht Club on San Francisco Bay. The sailors who originally were placed first and second in overall standings after the first two races for the Laser 4.7 boys world championship have been declared OCS in the second race of the day. David Pain (GBR) and Carl Cedrik Klovstad (NOR) had crossed the finish line first and third in heat two, but after the race committee reviewed results they were declared OCS (on course side). They dropped to 56th and 60th respectively in overall standings. Two Spanish sailors, Gonzales Cabrera and Carlos Rosella, now head the overall standings, based on the results from the red and blue fleets. Australian Ben Walkemeyer is now third overall with placings of seventh and second, just two points behind the second placed Rosella. Other adjustments to the finishing order in heat two has resulted in other Australians moving up in standings. Dylan Gore remains in 26th place (20-10 placings today), Max Vos has moved from 35th to 31st (15-16), Nicholas Connor has moved up two places to 40th (9-33), Kailas Johnson up four places to 42nd (29-15) while Jock Calvert has been lifted five places to be 52nd overall (28-27). The overall standings remain virtually unchanged in the girls’ world championship although 18 girls were black flagged in heat two. Full results are available online. SF Laser Worlds website
