'Yaverland Sailing Club - F18, Hurricane and Shearwater National Championships 2011'

The F18, Hurricane and Shearwater National Championships 2011 are set to begin in only two weeks at Yaverland Sailing Club on the Isle of Wight. The action for the F18 and Hurricane Nationals will take place from the 12th -14th August with three races scheduled each day. The Multihull sailors from all over the UK are eagerly anticipating what’s promising to be the biggest and best catamaran event this year. Three catamaran class associations have joined forces and the organisers of this year’s F18, Hurricane and Shearwater National Championships have already received more than 60 advance entries and are expecting that number to at least double in the days leading up to the event. Given that the famous Cowes week firework display is the night before (Friday 12) and the Sandown bay firework display will be on the 14th August this would seem an absolutely perfect time for an Isle of Wight weekend break – especially as WightLink, co-sponsors of the event, are offering some fantastic savings for competitors and spectators alike. The schedule of events is as follows: The F18 and Hurricane Nationals will take place from Friday 12 to Sunday 14 August with three races a day. The Shearwater Nationals is from Monday 15 to Friday 19th with two races per day and entry in the Long distance race optional on the Wednesday afternoon. There will also be a Crews Race during the week. During the week there will also be open class catamaran racing running with separate starts and courses during the week, and the IOW cat Open (all classes) will continue over the weekend of 20/21. Yaverland Sailing Club along with sponsors – Wildwind Holidays, Towergate Mardon, Ocean World and Wightlink are committed to make this regatta one of the best of this summer – both on and off the water!
