ISAF Sailing World Cup 2011 will be held in the state-of-the-art surroundings of Sandringham Yacht Club, Melbourne from 6th to 12th November 2011.

The organisers of the prestigious ISAF Sailing World Cup, Sail Melbourne are delighted to announce details of a valuable partnership with DB Schenker, one of the world’s leading providers of integrated logistics services.

The deal will make it hassle free for world class sailors competing at both Sail Melbourne and the ISAF Sailing World Championship in Perth to transport their boats and equipment between venues by offering a cost effective, one stop solution.

The partnership means all Sail Melbourne competitors can take advantage of a subsidised and reliable means of transporting their equipment between Melbourne and Perth. Loaded containers will be collected from Sandringham Yacht Club and delivered to Perth’s Royal Yacht Club on nominated dates, with a Perth/Melbourne return option also available.

Bruce Griffiths, Chairman of Sail Melbourne, said: 'We are thrilled that an organisation as well regarded as DB Schenker has stepped forward to support the growth of sailing in Australia in this way.

'The partnership will ensure an easy journey between Melbourne and Perth for the world class talent competing at each of these fantastic events. This deal is a great development for Sail Melbourne as our reputation for providing a renowned sports entertainment platform continues to grow.'

Ron Koehler, Chief Executive Officer of DB Schenker AU/NZ, said: 'We at DB Schenker are pleased to be able to assist the world’s sailing community to compete at two of our country’s most prestigious sailing events. The more talent we have competing, the more thrilling these championships will be.'

Whilst transporting equipment from Melbourne to Perth would usually cost a competitor $3,200, DB Schenker and Sail Melbourne have come together to offer a discounted rate of $2,500, saving competitors $700. For those who want to book a return journey between Perth and Melbourne, a discounted rate of $4,900 will apply meaning a saving of $1,100 on the usual rate of $6,000.

Sail Melbourne is proudly supported by the Victorian Government. Last year’s Sail Melbourne brought together 456 athletes from 42 countries across the globe, including a host of world champions and Olympic gold medallists. The impressive field included the likes of Ben Ainslie, Tom Slingsby, Malcolm Page, Matt Belcher, Nick Thompson, Nathan Outteridge, Edward Wright and Stuart McNay.

With excellent sailing conditions on Port Phillip Bay and an Olympic level race management team, the ISAF Sailing World Cup, Sail Melbourne offers the perfect training ground for teams and individuals to compete against the best of the best at a world class international regatta, prior to the Perth 2011 ISAF Sailing World Championships.

Offers close 1 September 2011 and competitors are advised to book quickly to avoid disappointment, as places are limited.

For further details on this offer and other competitor benefits and information including discounts on entry, yacht club access, training facilities, accommodation and on-site storage units please visit the website.
