Ian Williams and Peter Gilmour are out of the running for the 2011 Korea Match Cup title after being defeated in the Semi-Finals. That leaves Match Race Germany winner Francesco Bruni (ITA) Bruni Racing to take on Bjorn Hansen (SWE) Mekonomen Sailing Team for the 2011 Korea Match Cup title. But the two times Match Racing World Champion made a hasty exit from the Semis at the hand of Bjorn Hansen who advances through to the Finals with a straight 3-0 victory. It is the third time Hansen and Williams have faced each other in the Semis of the Korea Match Cup, but the first time Hansen has advanced to the finals. 'Of course we are really disappointed,' Williams said. 'We just didn't really adjust to the different conditions out on the water today.' As the highest ranking skipper after the Qualifying Session, Williams not only went straight to the Semis but also got to pick his opponent, opting to race Hansen who came off on top of an epic seven-race battle against last year's Korea Match Cup winner Mathieu Richard. 'I would still pick Bjorn again, the problem was not with the pick,' Williams added. 'It would have been a hard match against any of the Semi-Finalists. Now it's anybody's game.' After a disappointing day yesterday Gilmour (AUS) YANMAR Racing hit the water determined to show Bruni who was boss, dominating the first race in style. But Bruni answered back with three consecutive wins to end the four times Match Racing World Champion's hopes of his first win in Korea. Gilmour and Williams will now face each other in the Petit Finals to determine who takes the third podium position. The final of the Korea Match Cup is scheduled to start at 1400 local time (GMT+9).
