ISAF Sailing World Cup standings shape up

Delta Lloyd Regatta 2011 medals will be decided throughout the day in Medemblik, the Netherlands.

Stephen Morrison and Ben Rhodes (GBR) won the first gold medal of the day in the 49er handing the Brits 20 points to their 49er ISAF Sailing World Cup Standings total. They move up to fourth in the Standings on 42 points.

Peter Kruger-Andersen and Nicolai Thorsell (DEN) climbed from seventh to first place in the Standings after their fourth place finish in Medemblik. They lead Nico Delle - Karth and Nikolaus Resch (AUT) by a single point. Nathan Outteridge and Iain Jensen (AUS), who won silver in Medemblik, are sixth overall.

With five ISAF Sailing World Cup Regattas completed the British continue to dominate the Finn after Edward Wright (GBR) won gold in Medemblik. Wright's victory moves him up to third place in the Finn Standings on 66 points. But Ben Ainslie (GBR) continues to lead on 79 points with Giles Scott (GBR) in second on 71 points. The pair did not sail at the Delta Lloyd Regatta.

With a second place finish in the Medal Race, Pieter-Jan Postma (NED) secured fifth overall. With 55 points he sits behind the Brits in fourth, Vasilij Zbogar (SLO) is fifth on 54 points and one point behind in sixth is Gasper Vincec (SLO).

Ivan Kljakovic Gaspic (CRO) picked up the silver medal in Medemblik, he is 12th and bronze medallist Brendan Casey (AUS) is ninth.

ISAF Rolex World Sailor of the Year Tom Slingsby (AUS) won his first ISAF Sailing World Cup Regatta this year in Medemblik and moves to the top of the Laser Standings on 75 points. Javier Hernandez (ESP) and Nick Thompson (GBR) slip to second and third behind the Australian.

Bruno Fontes (BRA) finished second in Medemblik and moves to sixth in the Standings on 46 points. One point ahead of Fontes and fifth in the Standings after his third place finish is Roelof Bouwmeester (NED).

Marit Bouwmeester (NED) won her first gold medal of the ISAF Sailing World Cup series in Medemblik. She leads the Laser Radial Standings on 69 points ahead of Evi Van Acker (BEL), also on 69 points after her second place finish in the Netherlands, due to regatta wins.

Veronika Fenclova (CZE), who came fifth at the Delta Lloyd Regatta, is third in the Laser Radial Standings on 61 points.
In the Men's RS:X Ricardo Santos (BRA) has moved to the top of the Standings with 47 points after finishing fifth.
Dropping to second on 43 points is Shahar Zubari (ISR) who did not sail in Medemblik. Wang Aichen (CHN) won the bronze medal and jumps to third place on 41 points.

The Delta Lloyd Regatta Men's RS:X gold medallist Taehoon Lee (KOR), who competed at his first World Cup Regatta in Medemblik, is lower down in the Standings. And in fifth place, on 39 points, is silver medallist Zachary Plavsic (CAN).

Jessica Crisp's (AUS) second place finish at the Delta Lloyd Regatta moved her from 11th to second place in the Women's RS:X Standings. Charline Picon (FRA) continues to lead the way on 55 points with Crisp on 51.

Gold medallist Li Ling (CHN) moves from 18th to ninth and Brazil's Patricia Freitas, who finished eighth in Medemblik, increased her points tally to 43 to take sixth place in the Standings.

In the 2.4mR Thierry Schmitter (NED) won gold in Medemblik to extend his lead in the Standings to three points over silver medallist Megan Pascoe (GBR).

The ISAF Sailing World Cup will now head to Weymouth for the Skandia Sail for Gold Regatta from 5-11 June before finishing in Kiel from 18-22 June.
