Ohakea airforce base will see some low level flying over the June long weekend as the NZsailing.net North Island blokart Championships tears up the pavement over a mixture of long and short courses.

Ohakea’s wide runways, taxi-ways and aprons make it an ideal venue for blokart sailing. With high speeds and tactical windward-leeward sailing the event has become the must compete at regatta for those preparing for next year’s world championships in the United States.

Some of the big names in the blokart world are expected to be there with the famous Paul Beckett v’s Theo Vondervoort battle set to continue and provide some close exciting racing. Other competitors include world champion Russell Harrary with his CRC racing kart, Auckland club champion Wayne Osborne, and Yacht Studio Racing’s Ross Vickers fresh from his North American Championships win.

The event originally conceived to bring together blokart sailors from all the North Island clubs has grown significantly over the past few years with the introduction of the 'C' grade division. This division has become the 'Casual' division for those that have blokarts and love 'Crusing' along the beach from their bach or just love getting out during club days without the pressure of the racing divisions. So if you have a blokart sitting at home and would like to experience some laid back casual racing at a great venue feel free to join us..... entry details on the NZ blokart association website (www.bai.co.nz)

The event organisers are very grateful for the support of the events primary sponsor, NZSailing.net With their help we have some great prizes up for grabs. NZsailing.net is a NZ owned online chandlery specialising in Rooster clothing, Harken and Ronstan hardware, Kaenon Sunglasses and many many other great products.
