Club Marine Brisbane to Keppel Tropical Yacht Race - 50 on the fifth for the fifth! This year the Royal Queensland Yacht Squadron will celebrate the fifth anniversary of the Club Marine Brisbane to Keppel Tropical Yacht Race (B2K). From its humble beginnings, the race had the potential to be a major event on the eastern Australian offshore calendar. In 2007 B2K attracted 17 yachts and in 2010 the number expanded to 35. This year the race organisers are hopeful that 50 entrants will start on Friday 5th August at 12 noon. Club Marine are back on board as the principle sponsor having been associated with the race since the inaugural race. O'Reilley's Real Estate, Morgan's Seafood, Angove Family Wine Makers, Rockhampton Regional Council and Capricorn Tourism are also providing their support for the race again this year. B2K has attracted entrants such as Wild Oats X (Reichel Pugh 66 - Bob Oatley), Black Jack (Reichel Pugh 66 - Peter Harburg) and Lahana (30m Bermudian Sloop - Peter Millard and John Honan) which holds the race record of 22 hours, 11 minutes and 22 seconds set in 2010. The 348 nautical mile races starts east of Green Island on Brisbane's Moreton Bay and finishes off the break wall at Keppel Bay Marina which hosts the sailors once they hit the shore. The Notice of Race, Online Entry and associated documents are now available from the official race website - www.brisbanetokeppel.com. Updates will also be made via social networking sites Facebook and Twitter. (www.facebook.com/brisbanetokeppel | www.twitter.com/brisbane2keppel) For more information please visit the race website!
