Queensland Youth Week is fast becoming the biggest youth sailing event in the country and dates have been set for the 2011 event! Hosted by Royal Queensland Yacht Squadron (RQYS) with it's spacious grassed rigging lawns, perfect sunny winters days and beautiful traffic free racing areas, there is no better reason to pack up the family and join in for this fun and exciting event. As part of the Yachting Australia Youth Sailing Grand Prix, and incorporating the Australian Midwinter Youth Championship, Queensland Youth Week is the last chance for young sailors to race against their fierce competition prior to the Sail Down Under Series (Brisbane, Sydney and Melbourne), respective National Championships and the Australian Youth Championship, which is also being hosted by RQYS in January 2012. In 2010 a record number of entries attended the event. Across nine classes over 200 sailors competed in 10 races on Waterloo Bay east of the bayside suburb of Manly in Brisbane. RQYS is keen to break this record and is calling all youth sailors to join in, race and have a great time meeting up with interstate and international friends. This year there will be a fun invitation race which may include some Stand Up Paddle Board events and try windsurfing sessions. More information on this will be available in the coming weeks and months leading up event. The dates have been confirmed with official racing days being from the second to 5th July 2011. Accommodation is available on site at the Manly Marina Cove Motel, Yachting Queensland Dormitories and RQYS even has a designated camping and caravan ground! The Notice of Race and Online Entry forms are now available from the dedicated website - www.qldyouthweek.com For more information please visit the website or contact Suellen Hurling on +61 7 3396 8666.
