Velux 5 Oceans racers to host live webchats

Velux 5 Oceans - Live webchats to take place 22nd and 23rd March and will be hosted on the Eco 60 class website.

Fans of the Velux 5 Oceans are to get the chance to put their questions to their favourite skippers in a series of live webchats. Before the start of the fourth ocean sprint from Punta del Este in Uruguay to Charleston, USA, each of the four skippers will hold a 30-minute webchat to answer your questions about competing in The Ultimate Solo Challenge.

Velux 5 Oceans communications director Tim Kelly said: 'Whether it is through the multimedia content coming off the boats during each ocean sprint or through our Ask the Skipper video features, the Velux 5 Oceans is all about bringing our fans closer than ever before to the race and its skippers. The live webchats are the latest way of integrating race fans with the brave sailors taking on The Ultimate Solo Challenge.'

Here’s a timetable for the webchats:

Zbigniew ‘Gutek’ Gutkowski: Tuesday March 22, 1800 UTC
Chris Stanmore-Major: Tuesday March 22, 1830 UTC
Brad Van Liew: Wednesday March 23, 2300 UTC
Derek Hatfield: Wednesday March 23, 2330 UTC

Webchats for Brad Van Liew, Derek Hatfield and Chris Stanmore-Major will be in English. Gutek’s webchat will take place in Polish for the first 20 minutes then in English for the last ten minutes.

Anyone wanting to take part in the webchats should go to the Eco 60 class website at the times specified above. You will then be able to connect direct to the webchat.

Ocean sprint four starts from Punta del Este at 1pm local time (1600 UTC) on Sunday March 27.
