Farr 30 North American Championship at St. Francis Yacht Club

MIAA

Farr 30 North American Championship will be hosted by the prestigious St. Francis Yacht Club in San Francisco, August 26 to 28.

The Aldo Alessio Perpetual Trophy Regatta is the perfect match for the Farr 30 North American Championship this summer. Teams will have a chance to test the local conditions and themselves as they compete for the title of North American Champion and winner of the Irish Cup. Past winners include Jim Richardson, Bodo and Nick von der Wense, Deneen Demourkas, Peter de Ridder and Jack Lefort to name a few.

The The Aldo Alessio was originally a bi-annual event now held annually, established in 1992 through an endowment given by St. Francis Yacht Club Staff Commodore Aldo Alessio, to promote ocean racing from San Francisco bay.

The fleet will see racing take place with two days inside the bay and then the Farr 30 fleet will head outside the Golden Gate to the Pt. Bonita buoy. This is a great event, testing teams both inshore and offshore to crown the 2011 North American Champion.

The Aldo Alessio will also serve as a perfect introduction to San Francisco Bay where, less than two weeks later these very same teams will go head to head as they battle it out for the title of 2011 Farr 30 World Champion and holder of the esteemed Royal Canadian Yacht Club trophy. Held in conjunction with the Rolex Big Boat Series hosted by the St. Francis Yacht Club, the Farr 30 World Championship will be sailed from September 8th to the eleventh.
