This season has been eventful in that we opened the season without sailing because of contamination from the September quake. A fortnight ago we had a sewage line break. But we have tried to keep sailing.
Tuesday's quake has left our storage shed on the brink of falling into the sea. So we have evacuated the yachts. Rescue boats been removed from our very badly damaged clubhouse.

The New Zealand Government has established an official disaster fund for assistance of the people of Christchurch. The death toll is expected to be approximately 200 people from 20 countries. Rectification of the damage is expected to be NZD20 billion (USD15billion) - which covers only property damage and not the personal financial damage and loss of income and restart costs - which the Appeal fund will cover.
While the time will come to help get yacht clubs and sailing back on its feet, that time is not now, and the best thing that we can to is give money to the official fund which may be accessed by clicking here or click on the banner below
