In cooler climes, the NZ Optimist Nationals
concluded in Wellington. The almost 250 competitors from five countries (New Zealand, Australia, Tahiti, New Caledonia and Singapore) experienced the full range of conditions that Wellington can offer. Two Australian sailors finished in the top six overall, proving Australia will be a force in this important class, having been well behind the pack up to now.
