No sailing took place on Thursday at the Benromach National 18ft class Championship being held at Royal Findhorn Yacht Club, due to the adverse sea conditions.
Friday brought stunning sunshine and frustratingly light winds. The boats made their way to the start line towed by ribs and paddle power. The competitors bobbed around on the start line when the race was postponed for 30 minuetes while a sea breeze of 3 knots built. Competitors were serenaded by lone piper Jock Low on the stern of Findhorn yacht ‘Stranbo’ (Tony Cowie).
Prize giving took place on the lawn of the Royal Findhorn Yacht Club in the warm evening sun. All entrants received a hamper of Whiskies and Scottish produce from David and Sheila Urquhart donated by the event sponsors Gordon and Macphail, producers of Benromach Whisky.
A warm thanks was extended to all the event organisers, bar staff, catering, rescue, race management which together produced a very successful event for sailors and family alike. National 18ft - Final results of the week are as follows
1st AQUAHOLICS Colin Chapman
2nd HAPPY DAYS Colin Barry
