The Qingdao Sailing Centre takes a bit of getting used to. It is huge – the best way to get from the gate to the Media Centre is on a 'Circulating Golf Car'. Lots of media/journos/photogs/broadcast people, as well as competitors, have bought bicycles to get from their hotels to the Sailing Centre, and to get around the Centre itself. Five minutes in Carrefour will fix you up with a bicycle so cheaply that people are expecting or intending to either abandon them or give them away to the nearest passer-by at the end of the regatta.

So, having borrowed a bicycle today from a 'Gentleman of the Press' – here is an album of images from around and about the Sailing Centre.

Magazine picture editors please note – there’s more to this event than ‘merely’ sailing. To see more images please contact Guy Nowell on: mail@guynowell.com
