Light winds for the first day of the J.M.Finn & Co. Finn National Championships taking place at Thorpe Bay Yacht Club. Jonathan Lobert of France is leading after two races were completed, second is Britain's Giles Scott and third Andrew Mills. A good entry of 30 competitors, with two French entries. And it is Frenchman Jonathan Lobert who set the pace in the opening race, before World Youth Champion, Giles Scott eventually took the lead and the first race, with Lobert second and Andrew Mills third. The wind increased for the second race and Lobert won this one, with Mark Andrews from Largs in second and Scott in third. Plus several others who missed the first race showing, Neil Robertson of Megeham Rythe SC finishing fifth.
