The 2008 RYA Youth Nationals Championships are being staged at Clwb Hwylio Pwllheli Sailing Club from Saturday 29 March to Friday 4 April and are guaranteed as always to attract the top under 18 racers in the country to do battle in North Wales.
And you can get your entries for the 2008 RYA Youth National Championships and Trials in today by visiting www.ryaracingevents.org.uk
Among those heading the cast at the event will be new 29er Under 19 World Champions Max Richardson and Alex Groves while all four of the Laser Standard Youth Squad sailors currently preparing for the Laser Senior Standard Worlds in Australia are also set to return to home waters bidding to prove who is best.
The Championships will act as an indicator for sailor support for the relevant class World and European Championship events over the summer as well as the ISAF Youth Worlds in Denmark in July. With the Laser Radial Worlds in New Zealand finishing just a week before the Youth Championships and Trials, selection for the girls' single-hander ISAF Youth Worlds slot will be made at that event.
But with National squad places and the honour of becoming the RYA Laser Radial Youth National Champion up for grabs at Pwllheli, there are still plenty of incentives to enter.
Competitors will also be treated to a fantastic insight into what it takes to become an Olympic sailor from Simon Hiscocks, a 49er medallist at Sydney 2000 and Athens 2004. Simon will be providing open coaching debriefs for all sailors for the first two days of the event.
The entry deadline for the Championships is Sunday 16 March 2008 – no entries will be accepted on or after this date.
